Als die Welt untergeht, wird die junge Furiosa aus dem Matriarchat des Green Place entführt und fällt in die Hände einer großen Bikerhorde unter der Führung des Warlords Dementus. Bei ihrem Streifzug durch das Ödland stoßen sie auf die Zitadelle, die von Immortan Joe beherrscht wird. Während die beiden Tyrannen um die Vorherrschaft kämpfen, übersteht Furiosa viele Prüfungen und schmiedet Pläne, um zu überleben und Rache zu nehmen.
Fast zehn Jahre nach dem Überraschungserfolg FURY ROAD, der die weibliche Hauptfigur Furiosa zur Action-Ikone machte, wird nun deren Vorgeschichte erzählt. Statt Charlize Theron spielt Anya Taylor-Joy die gleichermaßen wortkarge wie toughe Titelheldin und bleibt damit trotz allem immer noch eine rare Ausnahme in der Ödnis männerdominierter Actionfilme. Röhrende Motoren, schnelle Schnitte, irre Stunts, verstörende Figuren und spritzendes Blut gibt es aber wie gewohnt.
ENG: Young Furiosa is kidnapped from the “Green Place of Many Mothers” and falls into the hands of a large biker horde led by the warlord Dementus. As they wander through the wasteland, they come across the citadel, which is ruled by the Immortan Joe. As the two tyrants battle for dominance, Furiosa endures many trials and makes plans to survive and seek revenge.
Almost ten years after the surprise success FURY ROAD, which made the female protagonist Furiosa an action icon, Anya Taylor-Joy now plays the tough title heroine in the prequel. Still a rare exception in the wasteland of male-dominated action films. In classic MAD MAX style, there are lots of roaring engines, quick cuts, crazy stunts, disturbing characters and blood.
