“hier und jetzt: Solidarität statt Polizei”

In unserer kleinen Veranstaltungsreihe “hier und jetzt: Solidarität statt Polizei” beschäftigen wir uns mit der Frage, wie wir direkt bei uns in Leipzig anfangen können, Alternativen zur Polizei zu entwickeln. Dafür laden wir uns Gäste aus verschiedenen gesellschaftlichen Bereichen ein.

In der zweiten Veranstaltung wollen wir herausarbeiten, was bei uns auf institutioneller Ebene und in persönlichen Beziehungen getan werden kann, um die Polizei überflüssig zu machen.

– Florian arbeitet in einer sozialen Einrichtung mit be_hinderten Menschen. Manchmal kommt es zu bedrohlichen Situationen, die eine körperliche Intervention notwendig machen. Wir wollen wissen, warum die Polizei in solchen Situationen überhaupt nicht hilfreich ist, sondern sogar noch eskaliert. Was bräuchte Soziale Arbeit und die Arbeitenden, zum Selbstschutz, an Ressourcen und Ausbildung, um mit den Herausforderungen besser umgehen zu können? Insbesondere stellen wir diese Fragen in Hinblick auf die zahlreichen Vorfälle mit psychisch kranken Menschen, die von der Polizei unter Berufung auf Notwehr erschossen wurden.
– Andrea Hübler, Fachreferentin bei der “Opfer”Beratungsstelle RAA Sachsen e.V. unterstützt Menschen, die von rechter und rassistischer Gewalt betroffen sind. Strafverfahren dienen vor allem der Durchsetzung des Strafanspruches des Staates und stellen daher den (oder die) Täter(*in) in den Mittelpunkt, während sie für die Betroffenen sinnlos oder sogar retraumatisierend sind. Welche Bedürfnisse können bei Betroffene von Gewaltverbrechen, insbesondere durch rechte oder rassistische Angriffe, entstehen? Ist es möglich “Gerechtigkeit” auf andere Weise herzustellen?
– Um den erarbeiteten Forderungen weitere realpolitische Schritte folgen zu lassen, wollen wir mit Jule Nagel, Stadträtin, Abgeordnete des Sächsischen Landtages und Aktivistin, diskutieren, welche parlamentarischen Handlungsspielräume, zum Beispiel bei der Aufstellung von Haushaltsplänen für solche Transformationsprozesse bestehen. Wie können wir zu einem inklusiven und sozial gerechten Verständnis von “Staat” und “Sicherheit” kommen?
Wir wollen uns tatsächlichen und vermeintlichen Widersprüchen in unseren Überlegungen stellen und uns nicht auf Szenecodes oder Allgemeinplätze zurückziehen. Es ist Zeit, den unerträglichen Status quo zu ändern. Damit fangen wir jetzt und hier an!

In our small series of events “Here and Now: Instead of Police, Solidarity “, we will be addressing the question of how we can begin to develop alternatives to the police right here in Leipzig. We have invited guest speakers from a diverse array of social backgrounds to speak in our two events.
In the second Panel on 22.05.21 we want to work out what can be done in Germany, on an institutional and on a personal level, to make the police superfluous.
– Florian works in a social institution with disabled people. In this line of work, threatening situations sometimes arise which require physical intervention. We want to know why the police are often not helpful in such situations. What would social workers need, to protect themselves, in terms of resources and training? We ask these questions in light of the numerous incidents involving mentally ill people who have been shot by police officers claiming to act in self-defense.
– Andrea Hübler from the “Victims” Counseling Center RAA Sachsen e.V. assists people who have been affected by right-wing and racist violence. Criminal proceedings serve primarily to enforce the state’s claim to punishment and therefore focus on the perpetrators, while they can be meaningless or retraumatizing for those affected. What do the victims of violence need or want? Specifically if they have suffered racist attacks? Is it possible to establish “justice” in other ways?
– In order to follow up the developed demands with further real political steps, we want to discuss the scope of action from a parliamentary perspective with Jule Nagel, activist, member of the city counsil and the Saxon parliamt. For example, we might want to look into how budgets for such transformation processes would be prepared democratically. How can we arrive at an inclusive and socially just understanding of “state” and “security”?
We want to face and reflect on actual and supposed contradictions and not retreat to scene codes or generalities. It is time to change the intolerable status quo. Here and now!
We expect to be able to offer an English translation at both events. There will be an factsheet about the ressources and tasks of the Saxon police, such as our concept to overcome Police as we know it. This will also be translated into English.
We reserve the right to ban and remove people behaving in a discriminatory way from the event.
The events are supported by the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation Saxony. This measure is co-financed by tax funds on the basis of the budget passed by the Saxon Parliament.
