SUCK x Jealous x Exwhite
„Kennste SUCK?“ „Jau, die musste unbedingt live sehen!“ So ungefähr verlaufen die Gespräche, wenn man sich im Punk-informierten Teil des Freundeskreises umhört. Zumindest in Berlin und Umgebung, wo für einige der musikalische Erstkontakt in der Berghain Kantine im Vorprogramm von Amyl and The Sniffers erfolgte, für deren 2019er-Tour SUCK den Support gaben. Kein leichter Stand eigentlich – und weil sie dort überzeugten, hinterließ die Punkband aus Kassel einen bleibenden Eindruck. Was in einem Text wie diesem unweigerlich zur Frage führt: Ist es eigentlich Fluch oder Segen für die Promotion eines Debütalbums, eine fantastische Live-Band zu sein? Anstelle einer weit ausschweifenden, fein ziselierten, kulturjournalistischen Antwort sei an dieser Stelle empfohlen, einfach mal den Opener „Rip It“ aufzudrehen. Man kann diese Frage nämlich essayistisch beantworten, oder so wie SUCK es hier tun: Mit einem Drum-Intro, das klingt, als wolle man die nächstbeste Tür eintreten, und einer Explosion aus Aggression, Kreisssägen-Gitarren, Melodie, Bass-Brummen und einer Stimme, die einen unweigerlich zur Erkenntnis führt, dass es keine adäquate Übersetzung für das wundervolle britische Wort „snarling“ gibt. Der melodische, breitkreuzige, aber niemals testosteron-übersteuerte Sound der Band aus Kassel pegelt sich hier irgendwo zwischen tiefer Black-Sabbath-Liebe und 70s-Punk-Verneigung ein. Und SUCK klingen dabei halt, als hätten sie bei den Aufnahmen noch eine Wagenladung Fans mit ins Studio gestellt. Der Livesound, in den sich viele bei den SUCK-Konzerten verliebt haben, wurde sozusagen perfekt eingefangen, luftdicht verpackt und auf Vinyl, CD oder in MP3s gepresst, wo er sich in dem Moment entlädt, in dem man auf „Play“ drückt.

Jealous was formed in Berlin in early 2018 by Paz Bonfil (Guitar, Vocals) and Adi Kum (Bass, Vocals). Paz and Adi met 8 years ago in Tel Aviv's underground circuit, and have been based in Berlin in the last years.
In 2019 they recorded their first EP “What’s Your Damage?”.
The EP was self-released on their own independent label “Baby Satan Records” in 2020 and last summer their second EP “Lover” was released by the NY based label “Deadstrange” (A Place To Bury Strangers).
Since 2018 Jealous have played over 100 shows, toured in France, Israel, Poland, Switzerland, Germany, UK, Netherlands, Belgium and played support shows for bands such as “Surfbort”, “Death Valley Girls”, “Viagra Boys”, “Amyl and the Sniffers”, “Gurr” and more.
In 2021 Jealous played concerts including: SXSW online festival, the Jewish festival of Krakow, Synästhesie Festival, Reeperbahn Festival for the third time, Fusion Festival, and played in the orchestra of the opera piece D.I.E at Ruhrtriennela Festival in Duisburg.
This year the band toured with A Place To bury Strangers and The Black Lips, played C/O POP festival, was played by Henry Rolling on his radio show in KCRW and is about to play Fusion Festival and tour the UK.
EXWHITE formed in 2019, after Jonas (aka "Kuba Salami", mastermind of
TURBO DISCOS and rock-legend in LAFFF BOX) recorded the first album
"Disco CS" and Pätti (aka "the tentacle" also known as drummer of
amazing bands like DR.URBAN, LÖTFETT or DIE HÜHNERFICKERKOMBO) mixed it.
He asked if he could play drums and had the idea to invite Georg (aka
"la burne" string-master of DR.URBAN and mother-chicken plus the first
intelligent egg of EGGIDIOT) to play bass in the live-band.
Few months later Jonas recorded the next album called "STALKER" and
added a second guitar, so it needed another guitarist.
Franny (you should know her from Deutschpunk-heroes BSCHISSN! or maybe
you already heard about fever-originators HOT CHICKS?) came right around
the corner and just added two strings to her beloved bass-guitar.
Both tapes released via "KUBA SALAMIS COLLECTION OF MUSIC AND
KNOWLEDGE", while Corona destroys the world Jonas founded the label
TURBO DISCOS and was able to release the third album on vinyl called
"ESTRAY EP".
